Betsy
Weis uses the digital palette to redefine space, time and color. Focusing
on sensory elements, she creates layers of light and movement; her images
play with the fluidity of memory and the richness of dreams, all the
while exploring the mystery of nature. Weis' canvas absorbs and reflects
what is most temporal in life, "light, time, perception, beauty
and memory." Using a digital camera and a computer, she seeks to
illuminate what the human eye cannot see. As she explains, "It starts
in nature. Looking into a pond, seeing the water simultaneously from
above and below as it reflects and absorbs the light moving through dark
layers of color into deep fluid space, its surface moving, reflecting
its surroundings, redefining space and time -- it captures a fleeting,
deep, meaningful experience." Maya Elise Joseph-Goteiner |
